Girls Only Pool Party

The Girls Only Pool Party was a big splash.  We started with good food and fun crafts.  We ended up late into the night with lighthearted & sometimes serious conversations while drifting on floats in the pool or sitting in lounge chairs around the pool patio.

This POOL PARTY was probably one of my most relaxing parties of the year.  The key to planning the girls annual pool party was organization and keeping is simple. After all, the annual girls only pool party lasts way into the night and it’s more about the gathering of all us girls.  But it’s also about Chocolate, Bloody Marys,  Margaritas, Crafting, & Just Relaxing.

POOL PARTY BUFFET FOOD:

• Hors d’oeuvre: quiche, humas dips & veggies, assorted cheeses, bacon bites.
• Lunch: pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw, potato salad.
• Dinner:  smoked ham, green beans, baked beans.
• Desserts: chocolate, strawberry shortcake, marshmallow berry salad, cupcakes, cookies.
• Snacks: chips, salsa, more chocolate, more cookies and cupcakes.

If you want to relax at your own pool party let the decorations do all the work for you.  Everyone was in visual WOW!  “How cute”, “how neat”, “how pretty”,”how polished”, etc.

Attire was simple – swimsuits!
The atmosphere was relaxing and fun.

The color theme was navy, aqua, and lime green.

We layered the tables with seashells, fish nets, and cheerful fish graphics along with flags were added into the pool party tablescape.

Flowers from the garden were used in the table decorations and our guests enjoyed the added color from the gardens surrounding the patio and pool.

We placed citronella candles around the patio perimeter and when evening arrived, the citronella candle glow provided the needed protection from bug bites as well as ambiance.

 

Pool Party Tips:

• Have extra towels & sun screen handy.
• Blow up more inflatable rafts and have a few pool toys for entertaining your guests.
• Use plastic for service ware to avoid any broken glass catastrophes.
• Keep cool with spritzer bottles and squirt guns.
• You are never to old to have fun in the pool.

Just a personal note: The Hula Hoop Contest was hilarious, Deanna was the only one who could get the thing to go around at least once.  No adult hula-hooping champion was to be found at this girls pool party.

 

Weather forecast was for rain so I was prepared by adding a large plastic drop cloth in back of the buffet.  It did rain and it rained off and on through out the day, but not enough to put a damper on our annual girls only pool party.   We only had rain drizzles through out the day but just a reminder,  if it is lighting and thundering – “everybody out of the pool”!
